Apply Now

As we step into our next phase of growth, Everlaw is looking for a People Operations Generalist to support and strengthen our core processes, ensuring that they are human-centered, reliable, and seamless.

You’ll report to the Head of People Operations, Insights and Total Rewards and work closely with our People Partners, People Programs, Recruiting, Legal, and Finance Teams. You will set your own bar, expanding your skills while directly contributing to our team's success and our mission to promote justice by illuminating truth.

This is a full-time non-exempt position based in our Oakland, California office with a hybrid work schedule: in office M/W/Th with the option to work from home Tu/Fr.

In your role, you'll...

  • Serve as the first line of support for all Everlawyers. You’ll be the guardian of our ticketing system, triaging incoming questions, and providing clear and empathetic answers across a wide range of topics.
  • Own the operations for key milestones across the employee lifecycle. You’ll coordinate onboarding/pre-boarding, process role and organizational changes, and guide employees through the offboarding process. You’ll ensure our HRIS and related systems are always up to date, and can be relied on as sources of truth.
  • Own our immigration program: You’ll guide managers and Everlawyers through transfers, renewals, and paths to permanent residency, partnering with external Immigration Counsel to ensure all submissions are accurate, comprehensive, and timely.
  • Champion compliance: You’ll keep us compliant and audit-ready, meticulously maintaining required documentation and partnering with Employment Counsel to manage all filings.
  • Continuously uplevel our ways of working: You’ll celebrate and codify what’s working, while identifying process gaps, recommending improvements, and actively driving the changes required to help us scale.

Over time, you’ll also have the opportunity to partner with members of our broader team to support key programs - including (but not limited to) benefits and leave administration, our performance review cycles, and more.

About you

You are a...

  • Compassionate Operator: You see the people behind every helpdesk ticket, leave entry and accommodation request, and endeavor to support them thoughtfully. You invest in developing your subject matter expertise, and partner with teammates and external vendors when needed to deliver holistic solutions.
  • Reliable Partner: You enjoy multi-tasking, and are calm in the face of competing, oft-changing demands. Your stakeholders trust you to prioritize dynamically, "sweat the details", and make sure no ball is dropped even when operating at pace.
  • Tech Enthusiast: You’re naturally curious about technology and love finding smarter ways to work. While you recognize the need for thoughtful checks and a personal touch, you can speak to ways in which you’ve leveraged (or are excited to use) AI features or automated agents.

Experience & Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in People Operations, HR Shared Services, or an HR Generalist role, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on experience answering employee questions in a ticketing system and managing core workflows in an HRIS.
  • Experience managing core employment compliance tasks (e.g., I-9 audits)
  • Experience coordinating visa documentation in partnership with immigration counsel
  • Experience writing, updating, or maintaining internal HR documentation / FAQs

Pluses...

  • Experience setting up and running performance review cycles
  • Experience handling standard benefits administration, data updates, and a foundational understanding of the administrative steps required for leaves of absence and accommodations (FMLA, ADA).
  • Familiarity with our core systems/tools, including Ascensus, Cocoon, Greenhouse, Lattice, Pave, Rippling and Vanguard.
  • Familiarity with project management frameworks or tools like Jira and Monday
  • Enthusiasm for building AI agents, with models like ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, or applications like Glean

Work authorization

  • You are authorized to work in the United States. Please note that currently, Everlaw is not sponsoring employment visas for this role.

Getting started

  • We’re committed to your success and want you to feel like a part of our team! You’ll go through our standard onboarding process, which will integrate you into the company with informative sessions on our product, policies, processes, and team structure and goals.
  • We trust that you’ll bring experience and knowledge that will uplift and uplevel the team, but we don’t expect you to know everything on Day 1. We’re excited to find ways for you to contribute, and will create room for you to learn and grow along the way.
